Women the pride and the flower of the nation.
Is the place of women valued by society?
A women has a vital role in society such as giving birth,
nurturing and ensuring a home is complete in a every way possible, therefore
their rights around the globe are an important indicator to understand ,
innovate, encourage and ensure an ethical and fair well being towards them. Throughout
history women have never actually received independence to exercise their rights;
they were denied freedom to peruse Cultural, Political and Economical careers
or goals, or even the right to pursue education for that matter. I want to
believe society misinterpreted the role of women as defined in the bible, the
term submission of women in ( 1 Pet
3:1-7 and Ephesians 5:22-24 explains how a woman must be submissive to their
husbands and household in a form of
gratitude or voluntarily based on time and moment) but society of men has
turned the term into a way that a woman has even accepted physical, and emotional
abuse as characteristic of being
submissive. This norm has found its place in generations therefore developed a
harsh environment for women and children in society.
“Women must not accept; she must challenge.
She must not be awed by that which has been built around her; she must
reverence that woman in her which struggles for expression”. –Margaret Sanger
How can women have a voice when they are still subject to
discrimination and exclusion in our Political and Global Economy? How do you
revive a woman’s confidence and pride in a society where a woman is raped every
36 seconds and according to Community Information, Empowerment and Transparency
(CIET) Africa more than 25% of a sample of 1,738 South African men from
different provinces admitted to raping someone when anonymously asked, let
alone the reported and unreported cases? A society where 217 women worldwide
have been physically abused of power and authority and for speaking the truth ,
when 204 have been threatened verbally and physically intimidated. These
incidents have an effect or purpose of impairing or nullifying the recognition,
enjoyment or exercise of their freedom irrespective of their marital status.
The rights of women have been entrenched in every constitution in each nation,
why do a few men make it their duty to ensure that these rights are executed
and by doing so it can set a trend to society and may indirectly affect the way
women are perceived. Culture and Tradition are the basic influential forces in
shaping gender role and family relations and also on a basis of Equality and
Human Rights.
“There came a time when the risk to remain tight
In the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.” –

Women’s rights are not subject to any law or culture. Gender equality furthers the child’s survival
and development in society, it also increases their confidence and
functionality in public spheres; therefore discrimination, distinction,
exclusion and restriction should be not being part of our modern society. A
Zimbabwean newspaper editor: Edna Machirori once said, “The more women are allowed in
leadership positions, the more they will be able to support each other”.
The 20th
century construct on women is placing confidence through social platforms
greater Economic power through education and is gives women the freedom to
establish themselves in families and in the workplace enhancing an emotional
strength of Feminism.
